Sweetgreen is a healthy, fast-food chain located in several regions of the United States. The company was founded in 2007, by a group of students who longed for better quality, locally farmed, fresh food options. They build their first located in Maryland. Since then, the company has grown tremendously. With the opening of their second location, came a new tradition. To promote business, they decided to stage a live concerts, which blossomed into a block party, and now is a full-scale music festival.
What makes Sweetgreen unique, is their commitment to the community, in both the farming and locally sourced food, to their school programs that teach healthy eating. In this series, Sweetgreen sourced various school lunches around the world. By examining government initiatives, food programs, and nutrition policies of various countries, including finding amateur photos of world-wide school lunches, Sweetgreen illustrates a contrast between foreign lunches, and the processed American cafeteria fare.
