Red Velvet Cake

Made from scratch, this Red Velvet Cake is decadent and covered in a cream cheese frosting. With it’s bright red color, this cake is made with buttermilk, vanilla and cocoa powder. Hints of chocolate paired with a rich vanilla flavor that mixes with a mild tang from the buttermilk and cream cheese frosting is what you’ll get in every bite!

Ingredients:

Cake Ingredients

2.5 cups self rising flour
1 cup buttermilk
1.5 cups vegetable oil
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup red food coloring, (two 1 oz. bottles)
1.5 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon white vinegar
2 eggs

Frosting Ingredients

8 Tablespoons plus 1/3 sticks butter, softened
10 ounces ounces cream cheese, softened
1 lb pound box confectioners sugar
2 cups chopped pecan pieces
