Gingerbread Layer Cake

Gingerbread Cake With Cream Cheese Frosting – a moist and delicious ginger cake with a tangy cream cheese frosting.

Yields 6″ 3-layer cake; 10-12 servings


Gingerbread Cake:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsps baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/2 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup dark brown sugar (lightly packed)
2 large eggs (room temperature)
1/2 cup molasses
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup buttermilk (room temperature)

Cream Cheese Frosting:

1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
6 oz cream cheese (full fat, room temperature)
3 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
