Ferrero Rocher Cake

Yield: one 9-inch cake, 2 or 3 layers

Ingredients for the cake:

5 large eggs
1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 3/4 cup chopped hazelnuts
2 tablespoons unbleached all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

Ingredients for the frosting:

14 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup Nutella
1 cup roughly crushed vanilla cream wafers
10 Ferrero Rocher candies, halved, for decorating
1/2 cup chopped hazelnuts, for decorating
Extra chocolate for melting and decorating, if desired
